The Arwen Ward Seclusion Room project involved the refurbishment of a medium secure women’s ward, focused on delivering a safer, more resilient and easy-to-maintain environment within a high-dependency setting. Works included the installation of a new resin system across walls and floors, with vinyl introduced to the ceiling to create a robust, wipe-clean finish and reduce maintenance vulnerability points. Supporting upgrades were completed throughout, including new blinds, sanitaryware, and polycarbonate protection elements, alongside powder-coated metalwork to improve durability and presentation. Anti-ligature floor gullies were incorporated to suit the resin build-up and drainage requirements, ensuring the completed system met the practical demands of use, hygiene, and long-term performance.

OTL Secure delivered the specialist secure package, incorporating seclusion and de-escalation requirements alongside door access control systems and CCTV integration to support observation, safeguarding, and operational control. Anti-barricade double swing doors were installed with detailing designed to reduce risk, maintain integrity under impact, and support clear staff visibility, balancing privacy, dignity, and supervision. Robust panel and glazing solutions were coordinated to strengthen safety and reduce concealment opportunities, while the overall finishes strategy prioritised seamless, impervious surfaces that can be cleaned effectively and withstand intensive use within secure healthcare environments.
