The project involved demolishing the existing dining room wall to create a larger operations area and removing a stud wall and door within the de-escalation space to enhance visibility and movement. Across seven bedrooms, nurse call points were repositioned to suit the needs of the clinical team, and seven new fire doors were installed to each ensuite, complete with anti ligature fixtures and compliant ironmongery.
Further works included the installation of new fire doors with viewing panels to the nurses station and lobby areas, along with the re-siting of existing fire doors to ensure full compliance with current fire regulations. New lighting and switches were fitted throughout the bedrooms, supported by the installation of five air conditioning units to improve comfort and efficiency.
All affected areas received full redecoration, new carpet finishes, and vinyl flooring, creating a refreshed and calming environment. The upgrades were completed with a focus on safety, durability, and wellbeing, ensuring that the space continues to support both staff and patients in a secure and comfortable setting.
The works were delivered in a carefully phased approach to allow the facility to remain fully operational throughout the project. Close coordination with site management and clinical teams ensured that disruption was kept to a minimum, with strict controls in place around access, noise, and safety. This collaborative and considerate approach allowed OTL Group to complete the improvements efficiently while maintaining the security and daily routines of a live healthcare environment.
Every element of the refurbishment was designed and installed in line with the latest healthcare standards. All fittings, fixtures, and materials were selected for their anti ligature properties, reducing potential risks within high dependency areas. The result is a safe, compliant, and therapeutic environment that upholds the highest levels of care and protection for service users.
